A Clockwork Orange - REVIEW

Film of the Day #42/ 300

Disturbing and thought-provoking, A Clockwork Orange is a cold, dystopian nightmare. Adapted from Anthony Burgess’ novel and directed by Stanley Kubrick in 1971, this is a most unusual and disorienting movie experience. Brilliant and darkly poetic, A Clockwork Orange is able to both enrapture and disgust. It remains as unsettling and shocking today as the day it was released however, although you feel you must look away to catch your breath, your eyes are glued to the screen. It may not make for escapist viewing but A Clockwork Orange cannot be missed by serious film-goers as it is without doubt one of the most memorable British films ever made. Real horrorshow, that!
