Film of the Day #105/ 300

Intelligent and significant; Bryan Singer’s original X-Men movie set the standard for future comic book adaptations. A tale of super-evolved mutants in a struggle against human oppressors, X-men is an instant classic. Combining impressive special effects, with an involving plot, Singer created a truly memorable cinematic experience. X-Men not only offers enough popcorn thrills for the masses but it also delivers a clear message about prejudice in a modern society. These are superheroes who largely regret their powers because of the trouble that they bring. Singer’s X-pert direction makes X-Men an absorbing piece of filmmaking that negotiates harmony between character depth and comic book dynamics. X-Cellent, X-Citing and X-Quisite.
