Moonraker - REVIEW

Film of the Day #109/ 300

Following the success of Star Wars, producers decided to capitalise on the current sci-fi craze and send James Bond out of this world for the next 007 adventure. Directed by Lewis Gilbert, Moonraker is a spectacular space-age adventure that sees’ MI6 most famous agent journey into outer space. The movie is technically and spectacular marvel and although the laser battle looks dated by modern standards, it is still a classic slice of Bond action. Many purists often accuse Moonraker of being too over the top and overtly silly, however, it’s exactly this ridiculousness that makes Moonraker so enjoyable. Moonraker is the most unfairly criticised of all James Bond movies, it was a necessary upgrade of the franchise in a new era of cinema.
