The Phantom of the Opera - REVIEW

Film of the Day #132/ 300

Joel Schumacher’s cinematic retelling of Andrew Lloyd Webbers’ The Phantom of the Opera is an unrestrained flight of Gothic fantasy. The film manages to beautifully recapture the spirit and essence of the story as well as revoke the grandeur and opulence of the original production.  Fantastic sets, costumes, great art direction and imaginative camera work make this a visually stunning movie, and who knew Gerard Butler could sing? I appreciate this film won’t be to everyone’s liking however, If you have seen the dramatic and operatic West End show and you want to relive those spine tingling moments all over again, I highly recommend you experience the music of the night in the comfort of your own home.
