District 9 - REVIEW

Film of the Day #155/ 300

The most audacious, auspicious and entertaining science fiction debut in years, Neil Blomkamp’s modest-budget District 9 is that modern rarity: an adventure thriller that's even better than its advertising campaign. Fascinating, intelligent and challenging, District 9 is original in concept and thoroughly intense. This alien encampment quickly devolves into a gritty slaughter chase that never bores. The film works as political commentary, blood-splattering action flick and comedy satire. Intriguing, inventive and energetic, Blomkamp's feature debut is a thoroughly tasty prawn cocktail.
